Scared and Confused

At 8 o’clock on Friday morning the van of the city Court House arrived to pick up Mary from her foster parents’ house.
Mary is a 13 years old girl who has been removed from her parents’ home after her father threatened her life. One of her teachers has taken her in so she wouldn’t end up in a foster placement with a stranger.
She had never been to a Court before. The whole ride took about an hour and during the trip to the court house, Mary was feeling anxious, worried, and scared. She remembers she focused on the man that was driving her to the Court House which was doing phone calls off and on the whole time. She thought he was weird.
It was also the first time she would see her parents after what happened, and she couldn’t’ know what to expect, that was making her more anxious
Mary remembers that being to the Courtroom was the scariest part of the experience. When the van arrived, they left her wait in the wait room., then a woman came and  guided her in. The first person she had seen in the room was her father. He was just staring at her. Watching his father’s eyes was really hard for her. His eyes said a lot. He looked disappointed but ashamed at the same time. Then she saw her mother who was shaking her head and look really mad.
Then Mary sat next to her lawyer.  She remembers that they told her non to look at her parents, she hadn’t to. She remembers that she didn’t understand much of what they were talking about in that room.

Note: Mary is a casual name.
